  17.         Thanks for your letter concerning the second edition of your
  18.         Encyclopedia of Shareware.  I Have prepared new versions of FC and
  19.         FCDOC for inclusion in the Encyclopedia and on your CD ROM disk.
  20.         These programs are on the enclosed diskette.  I have also enclosed a
  21.         submission form for the new programs.

  23.         I'd like to suggest the following description for the new edition:

  25.         FC and FCDOC
  26.         Author version 2.2
  27.         Disk number 1584
  28.         Special Requirements: None.
  29.         Author Registration: $25.00.

  31.             FC compares two ASCII text files and lists the differences between
  32.             them line by line.  FC never gets confused or "unsynchronized" (as
  33.             some comparison programs can), and never misses matching lines.
  34.  
  35.             FC identifies changed WORDS as well as changed lines.  This
  36.             feature allows you to identify differences at the lowest level of
  37.             detail.
  38.  
  39.             Several features are included for "C" programmers.  FC can ignore
  40.             "C" program white-space changes, so only changes in program
  41.             meaning are listed.  If you have two versions of a program
  42.             containing separate changes, FC can combine them to make a single
  43.             program.

  45.             FCDOC is similar to FC, except that it compares English documents
  46.             instead of ASCII text files.  FCDOC ignores format differences, so
  47.             you see CONTENT changes without being distracted.
  48.  
  49.             Both programs provide other helpful features such as comparing
  50.             multiple files in one run, displaying in several output formats,
  51.             and customizing default options to suit your needs.
